This was marketed to me as a retelling of Pride and prejudice, and while I see similarities I think a flat out comparison isn’t fair for this cute story. Across the board this story made a huge impact on me. I love seeing the inner workings of different cultures, traditions, and families. This book does all of that really well. I think the only fault I can give this book is really it took a long time for the various storylines to vet themselves out. And there were Also a LOT of story lines.

Really enjoyed this book. Great characters, especially Nani and Nana. I think the author could have downplayed the P&P connection and I still would have enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed this one! I loved getting to be immersed in a culture different from my own and I always love a strong, female lead. I also felt a kinship with the characters because of their convictions. I have strong Christian spiritual convictions which affect my choices and behaviors, so while our religious identities differ, I could relate to the way the characters made choices about their lives with those important convictions in mind.

Awesome book!! I related to it so much!!
I liked Khalids character growth as well as ayeshas. I loved nana and Nani. God bless their souls. I loved the whole addition of Shakespeare’s quotes/sonnets and how it’s integrated into the plot of the story. It encouraged me in my quest to read more Shakespeare.
I loved how some of our Muslim characters were flawed in terms of sins. That is very indicative of muslims in western society these days and how easy it is to forget our faith and diverge away from it. But I love how at the end of the day they always come back to faith and they come to their senses.
I liked the romance between ayesha and khalid. It was not bad. However at times they were so dramatic. It was unnecessary and lacked substance.
I liked how overtime we got to see what happened between ayeshas Mum and dad . That was such a nice backstory and it added substance to the story.
I absolutely could not stand hafsa and farzana as well as the Aunty brigade. They were literally the worse people. I hated them. They were so annoying.
All in all it was a good book that deals with loss, guilt, love, dreams, parents, faith and heaps more. It was done well.
