The story is incredible, the writing is witty and memorable and the book is a huge goshdarn slog. But overall I liked it a lot.

Not what I expected - a straight-up autobiographical work from 1916-1917, when the Britisher Lawrence organized and led the Arabs in their quest to push the Turks (at the end of the Ottoman Empire) out of Arabia. An interesting piece of personal and international history - but not particularly focused on the philosophical aspects of Lawrence's dream.

Made it 60% of the way through before feeling like all the events described blurred into each other.

I read this longer ago than I care to remember and still it burns within me. It's an incredible book written by an enigmatically fascinating man. The opening paragraph (which I leave you to google at your leisure) is one of my favourites in all of literature, of any genre. I urge everyone, anyone, to read it.

The book was certainly thick, but it was truly a fascinating account of the Arab Revolt in World War I. Now that my journey through Arabia with Lawrence is complete, I can't help but feel a bit bittersweet. The book is simply a must for those interested in the event itself, or Lawrence as a person. While it can be difficult at times to focus in on Lawrence's poetic descriptions, this meaty tale is worth the effort. A wonderful read indeed.
