SPECTACULAR!!!! This book was absolutely gripping. The first 100 pages seem long and pointless but they place wonderful hints that you don’t notice until after the book. This book was gory, horrifying, and gripping. I could not put it down. I will remember this book and ‘There’s Someone Inside Your House’ with the egg timer. This book is so remarkably unique and I’m intrigued and terrified to see what else Stephanie Perkins cooks up!

Book was horribly written the start of the book is just whiny teenagers going on a hike before college. The author took forever to even get to what the story is about. Basically you might as well just watch the hills have eyes because that’s 10x better then this book. The author completely tried to go for the Hills have Eyes plot and failed miserably.

I was not exactly sure what this book was going to be about, or rather I wasn’t sure who the bad guy was supposed to be. I assumed it might be supernatural kind of story but I loved that it was “real.” I found both Neena and Josie extremely relatable as I’ve gone through similar growing pains in friendships. I could not put this book down and I really did enjoy it!

This was cliche in the worst way, plus any mention or inclusion of SA felt unnecessary. Additionally, neither of the characters were really all that likeable, and they were almost caricatures of who they were supposed to be. It was a fine book but not one I'd recommend to anyone, especially for that stupid ending.
SpoilerSeriously, wtf was with the bear? It was so unsatisfying, unrealistic, and entirely random.

I'm using spoiler tags because the main threat of the book is not revealed until deep into the page count. Aside from revealing the threat and my issues with it, the spoilers are minimal and do not pertain to the plot.

A thrilling quick read. My rating would be higher if
Spoilerthe actions of the villains weren't immediately blamed on their bad (addict, sex worker) mothers. Most of the book is so delightfully anti-sexism, then it trips and falls into the "the bad actions of men can be blamed on failed women" trope. Ms. Perkins, you didn't have to do that.

This isn’t a perfect book and suffers from being as short as it is since the lack of character growth and time to settle into their relationship. While I like the idea of who else is in the woods I think that this would’ve been a better book if it focused on the girls surviving the conditions. Those moments were far more chilling than any moment with the bad guys.

I did enjoy the survival plot line and I didn’t have moments of chilling fear but like I stated above that didn’t have anything to do with “who was watching”. It felt predictable to me. Overall, it was fine and not boring by any means. Just could’ve been better

 ✨🌠 my about / byf / CW info carrd: uchiha-madara 🌠✨

It was ok. The writing was pretty and well done, but nothing especial to write home about. I think I'd like it more if I knew it wasnt horror but a thriller. You know, despite what the book summary might say. There's zero paranormal or supernatural shit happening. Also the classism shit about the Bad Guys being
Spoiler poor survivors of childhood abuse, low class yokels being rapist murderers
is shitty.

It took an hour to read. Easy peasy.
