DNF @ pg 219.

after the 50% mark of the book, it just becomes frustrating and hard to read. Too much focus on relationships rather than the friendships. Also both relationships just got to be too much for me. They didn't seem very healthy at times. For Felix & Alice, I found Felix to be an unlikeable character with no redeeming qualities. He also didn't seem to have any motivations behind his actions. He just showed up and did what he did without any great reasoning. Eileen and Simon were initially a interesting and cute couple but I feel like as the book goes on there is some unnecessary miscommunication regarding the status of their relationship. also, the 5 year age gap btwn them is very uncomfortable as it is mentioned their feelings started when she was 15 and he was 20. It's also just weird to like a kid u watched grow up as kind of a big brother figure.

note: phrasing to be fixed so ideas will be better conveyed :)

I did find the nails a bit pretentious and stupid (especially about the Soviet Union part) but I was interested in the characters enough, even if I felt Alice acted like a literal serial killer and they weren’t acting like people for the first half or in any of their emails. I also hate the lack of speech marks. I know it sounds like there is more negative quality’s to this book than positive but I feel like it was decent enough to give a four stars, not blown away but not terrible either.
