This is yet another Doctor Who novel I've really enjoyed reading. It may be a little "dumbed down" and Rose may be slightly off but this could have easily be adapted into a televised story for the main series. I think Whovians would enjoy this in general though it does depend on one's tastes and opinions.

This was a thrilling 9th Doctor novel, thought predictable sometimes, it was not without interesting turns and creepy moments.
I enjoyed it, except for some of these points, some of them are quite small really but a lot of small ones make a big one.
Spoilers from down here.
- "Hero of Borodino". No. Are you telling me that in the 21st century was a hero of the 1812 battle?
- Vodka isn't drunk from the bottle, it is drunk in shots and not in such huge amounts as it was described in the book.
- All the swimming they did, both Jack and the Doctor. So get this, Jack gets out of the water, Rose gives him his coat and then he's fine. That's just impossible, even for Captain Jack Harkness. If that treatment were given to him in real life, he would've died. What actually needed to be done is this: get the person who was swimming somewhere safe and warm, take a cloth and damp it in strong alcohol, vodka'll do if they have so much of it anyway, then rub the cloth on limbs to stimulate the blood flow. You might also want to give that person vodka to drink.
- Valeria. I did not get her connection with Jack. I'm sorry I just didn't. Also, she would be called 'Lera'
- Jack's character was pretty much off. Yes, the brave Captain was there, but where'd the flirty side go?
But all in all the book was good, Rose's and Nine's characters were given justice. And I cried when Sergeyev died. If you are not a Russian, I think you will truly enjoy this book.
