This book is beautifully written and drawn. I was angry on behalf of the characters immediately which pulled me directly into the youth punk scene at the heart of the story and made everything that follows make perfect sense.

I love the critique of satanic panic and police (in)action through actual supernatural activity and I’m a huge sucker for a playlist!

This book touches on some interesting ideas but feels unfinished or like it’s leading to a sequel. Not sure but it ended up feeling half-baked. Initially some good points around the fear of those different from you, transphobia, and deception by police/the government but they didn’t really go anywhere…

I'm looking forward to the sequel already, this was incredible. I hope the group gets their revenge in the best possible way.

Amazing! This book had my stomach twisting in knots. You feel for this group of friends with the town assuming innocent till guilty for a murder they didn’t commit. These friends struggle to survive a frenzied night against a town full of satanic-panic mad people, two crooked officers looking for a convenient scapegoat, and the devil themself (enjoying a wild night out and tired of being treated like a pet). The ending gave me goosebumps! The illustrations are masterful in their ability to portray emotions and scenes perfectly, a perfect mix of soft lines and terrifying visuals.

Thanks to Netgalley and Oni Press for the ARC, all opinions are my own.

Synopsis:
Mitch and his friends are queer and into punk. Not a good mix during the 70s in the US: they get beaten up and discriminated at their jobs. So when the government murders people in their town it's easy to blame it on them.

My thoughts:
The illustrations? Stunning. Nothing more to say there.
Moreover it's queer horror and I don't need much more to love a book. The characters are lovely; from the moment we meet them, we know they care for each other, that they're family and you just can't help but feel the same way. Non of them are in a good place, but they're trying. Sadly, the characters aren't very fleshed out, but it's a 200 page graphic novel, there's only so much you can do there.
Because it's so short it is also very fast-paced and the ending was rather abrupt. A couple more pages there would've probably helped.
Overall it's a very short and good read and I'd definitely recommend!

Thank you NetGalley and OniPress for the e-arc

So in this graphic novel, we follow a group of young adults who are queer and marginalised during the satanic panic in the USA, and especially in a very religious and conservative little town. So when a murder happened the authorities create a moral panic saying satanic did it. And the group of fitness are the perfect ones to blame.

I really really really like it. I love queer horror stories. Like horror is queer for me, and we need way more queer horror stories. The drawings are great, and the group of friends is superbe. Like we can see how much they care for each others, they always have each others back, and are here for each others. The horror was pretty good too. And I really wanted to know, how they would survive this.

The thing that bothered me was the pacing. It felt weird at some point, but not bad either… I just hope we will have a sequel because this ending????
