This book is hot hot hot 🥵

One night, Selena pulls over for a bad storm and is approached by escaped convict Lex (Lexington) and gives him a ride (clearly unaware that he is a convict)

Through their adventures of him getting this ride, he discovers that his “Rabbit” (to his coyote/wolf) is married to another kind of monster.

Following their story was a rollercoaster. A lot of emotions to unpack here and their chemistry is obviously off the charts. I loved this dark smutty romance.

The only complaint I have is Lex’s back and forth on whether to have Selena on his journey or not. She proves over and over that she is brave and tough and he still tries repeatedly to send her away and as much as it frustrated Selena, it frustrated me — it’s a romance after all — all I want is for them to be together 😂😂😂

Otherwise,

ML is escaped felon hitchhiker and FL is prim proper girl who is getting abused by husband. She picks him up from the side of the road and he carjacks and kidnaps FL. Boy oh boy, it was barely a romance i will say. ML and FL do not know what love is and cling to each other. It is very crazy, and had some unexpected kinks in here. life be wild sometimes.

This is nasty..... if you are into dark romances maybe this is for you.... it was entertaining in a sick twisted voyeuristic kind of way but it wasn't for me.

This book had a lot going on for it, I felt a disconnect with the characters though.

Lex is very hot and cold. He likes Selena but keeps pushing her away every chance he gets, especially during a hard time.

Selena is describe as meek and innocent. She is until Lex corrupts her. I feel like people are half and half. It just seemed like it would take people a lot longer if not at all to become a killer.

She all of a sudden, starts killing with Lex. Like really?!?

I found the plot lacking, quite a lot of spice but not enough depth.

There is a lot lot lot lot lot of smut for only 190 pages.
Unfortunately it is repetitive and it made me lose interest the further I went through the book.
The story could have been more developed.
I was kind of hoping a tragic end to this one.

The audiobook is really good, the narrators are convincing and the mixed dual POV is one of my favorite narration.

I think I've found a personal limit for me with dark romance... the aggressive lack of consent that turned into some sort of begrudging acceptance, especially after coming from one extremely abusive relationship and clearly waltzing right into another, was both a bit too much for me and seemed like some sort of glorified Stockholm syndrome. Quote: "He loves when I listen when everything inside me says no" pretty much sums up most of the FMC's internal monologue and, yikes. In some books/contexts, this trope is fine for me, especially when it is more clearly consensual in general, but this one was really unsettling and felt much closer to r*pe almost the whole time. Generally, it was otherwise written fairly well, maybe lacking plot in a meaningful way (but also, it's clearly smut, you get PLENTY of that), and I can see how people would enjoy this book more based on their own personal thresholds, but it really just wasn't for me. While I didn't actively hate this book, it was a relief when it was finally over...

This isn’t for me. I liked the bunny/rabbit nickname he gave her but the lines of consent were not clear and it felt a little rapey. Okay maybe fully. I think I blocked it out? It just didn’t sit right with me and the MMC grossed me out.Like are we forgetting the giant creepy face tat. Well I tried. To no avail. Also what the fuck was his POV? One of the few times I hated a love interest’s thoughts. So creepy and the imagery of all those gross motels? Uckkkkk
