The story fell a bit flat for me but the last chapter reeled me in. The art was great and as a whole, this was just okay.

Ehh...I stopped reading the books because I didn't like the way the women were written, but I loved the show so thought I'd give the comics a go. Unfortunately I had similar issues with the female characters, all of which were at some point topless in the graphic novel for seemingly no reason. Just some odd choices that made it very clear it was written by a man.

The plot was fine, I liked the setting and the reveal/plot twist was interesting enough. But the good elements didn't really cancel out the not so good elements for me, and so overall it was just fine

Having seen the show but not having read the novels or played the games I don’t have a lot of basis for saying whether this graphic novel accurately portrays said established character (I have seen other reviews say he does not). But he felt to me pretty similar to the Witcher of the show. Even if this were one’s first exposure, it doesn’t feel like a previous background would be necessary as it’s basically a stand-alone story that feels like it could be an episode in an animated series.

I read it on Kindle which has a guided view feature that allows for zooming in and reading panel to panel instead of the full page which made for kind of a cool experience. I’ve seen some complaints on the art, but I feel like it was pretty good. I didn’t mind the lack of details in some panels.

The story itself was an entertaining way to pass a little while. I liked that the characters each had some aspects that were not immediately revealed and the somewhat hopeful note it ends on. My library has Vol 2 so I’ll probably check that out but I’m not sure I’m invested enough to obtain 3-4 unless they become available.

My first foray into the literary world of the Witcher (I've seen the first 1 and a bit seasons on the telly) and this really impressed me. Gritty artwork and a haunted house and dark past made for a really compelling ghost story.

3.5 out of 5 (rounded down to 3 for Goodreads).

A fun, spooky stand-alone adventure of Geralt's. The art style wasn't my favorite, but I enjoyed the story!
