It's been a minute since I read the other books in this universe, but I remembered that (a) I liked them, and (b) the Presger translators had some of the most disturbing, delightful, and flat-out weird dialogue of any characters I'd ever encountered. So of course I leapt at the opportunity to read this standalone book featuring a young Presger translator.

Was not disappointed! This was plotty enough to keep the pages turning, but also character-rich and deeply human. Recommended for fans of Ursula LeGuin and Martha Wells.

Another solid expansion to the Imperial Radch universe, with just as much politics. More Treaty Negotiations than before, most certainly! For those who want more information around the alien species in the original trilogy, this is definitely the book for you.

Ann Leckie does not miss. A brilliant, charming space adventure.
