I really didn’t think I’d enjoy this book, as the people I know who love it are mostly boys I went to elementary school with, but I really loved this story. I don’t know if it’s common knowledge, but I didn’t know if was from the perspective of the dog and I really enjoyed how Jack London wrote his perspective. I really fell in love with Buck and other characters.

This is a worse and more racist copy of White Fang. If you read that book I don't think you need to waste your time on this one. But hey, at least the writing was passable and it was very short.

I couldn't remember if I'd read this one or White Fang when I was younger, but it must have been White Fang because all of this was new to me.

It reminded me in many ways of Black Beauty, which I absolutely adored. It shows the kindness, cruelty, and ineptitude of people from the animal's perspective. It makes you feel so strongly while reading, about both good and bad characters.

While Black Beauty eventually found love in a peaceful home, Buck takes the opposite approach and fully embraces his wild dog side. Both end up in their happiest state, and both books really make you feel and root for each animal. This one feels like more of a product of its time than Black Beauty, but I still enjoyed it.

I do not understand how this book is beloved. Am I missing something? It's full of racist, violent content that serves no other purpose than to say "the dog turned to its wolf roots". Cool? What's the comment on it, why should we care? It's boring but skimmable and I only bothered finishing it because it was short, hoping that I'd discover some profound idea hidden in the nonsense. I did not. I actively did not like this book, not even the writing could make up for it. Not worth the time to read.

Really liked the author’s writing style and the narrator’s reading (Audrey audiobook). I found myself thinking about this book a lot when not actively listening. However the animal cruelty and death made it a very challenging listen and so I just couldn’t rate highly.
