I found it pretty cheesy, however the overall plot of the series is intriguing enough that I kept listening. The narration is pretty bland, very little differentiation in characters. I think I would continue the series, though not sure I'd spend a credit.

Well this was definitely not written with me as a reader in mind. Wish fulfillment men that would like a harem of women that all get along and that was their decision rather than a creepy wish of his own. And to have the necessity of promotion through his lineage, that was just too idiotic but hey it is someone else’s fantasy and it has a background scifi story and not much in graphic sex so, ... ok. I’ll read along for a bit but then the writing is just... not believable for me. He has no thoughts on friends and family that were left behind other than the wife that it didn’t work out with so he re-ups. Hmm... and his strength seems to be growing so I can see where that is going. So as a fantasy, some men might like this but not my type of scifi opera. Don’t mind the harem but it has got to make sense. So I stopped maybe 25-33% through. My husband actually like this and read on in the series so maybe it is more for him. Oh, on top of that, it is a dystopian scifi which really aren’t my thing to beginning with.

full of misogyny and machismo, I nevertheless fell in love with the main character and even his shallow commitment to a doomed government and planet.
