I really like the little pictures at the beginning of each chapter. I’ve never read any author from this book other then David Levithan. I’m glad I got to have a taste of their work in this anthology. I defiantly have a few new authors I want to read more from.
Below are individual reviews for each story
Midnight- Rainbow Rowell: 4/5- Really cute and the friendship is great
The Lady and the Fox- Kelly Link: 5/5- This story really reminded me of Christmas and the way it was when I a kid.
Angels in the Snow- Matt de la Peña: 3/5- Kinda cute, but pretty boring
Polaris is Where You’ll Find Me- Jenny Han: 2/5- Not really much of a romance
It’s a Yuletide Miracle, Charlie Brown- Stephanie Perkins: 5/5- So cute and actually what I wanted to happen to me when I was younger! I wanted a Christmas Tree Lot boyfriend!
Your Temporary Santa- David Levithan: 2/5
Krampuslauf- Holly Black: 4/5- My first Holly Black but I knew the second the guy in the awesome costume showed up. **2018** Only reread this story. Still really cute
What the Hell Have You Done, Sophie Roth? - Gayle Forman: 3/5
Beer Buckets and Baby Jesus- Myra McEntire: 4/5- Not what I expected from the title, but I still enjoyed it a lot
Welcome to Christmas, CA- Kiersten White: 4/5- I knocked off a star because Ben isn’t an accurate representation for a restaurant cook, but everything else was cute
Star of Bethlehem- Ally Carter: 4/5- I would like this as a longer story so I can get some more info! I want to know more about Hulda and Lydia before the airport
The Girl Who Woke the Dreamer- Laini Taylor: 5/5- So odd but sooo good

Since this is a short story compilation I will post the title/author and then how much I rate it and maybe a small part about what I thought of it.

Midnights - Rainbow Rowell: 5 stars (This one was a very cute little story, I loved both the characters and the romance was good.)

The Lady and the Fox - Kelly Link: 2 stars (Ending saved it from a 1 star, but other than that it was boring and the characters highly unlikeable.)

Angels in the Snow - Matt de la Peña: 0.5 star (It took me a bit of time before I figured our main character in this one is a guy. I expected a girl. Also the story was just utterly boring and unbelievable. He has to cat sit and the owners didn't even care to have some food in the house? Sorry but what kind of people are they? And what kind of name is Shy? And why is he such a pussy? I was just rolling my eyes the whole time when he was whining about food and hunger. It was like I said, unbelievable. Oh and I hate cheating. Hate it when people do that. I mean seriously? That girl has a boyfriend (though she might be avoiding him and all that), well I hope she won't have one soon, because dang girl, you don't almost have sex with someone you barely know while you have a boyfriend. NO just NO. All in all the worst story so far, let's hope the others will be better.)

Polaris is where you'll find me - Jenny Han: 3 stars (Would have been higher if the ending had been better. Now we still won't know what will happen. Will she go? Will she forget? Will her heart be broken? But other than the abrupt ending it was a nice story. I liked that instead of a normal boy or girl we have a girl who is adopted by Santa and is living on the North Pole. We read about elves, candy canes, sleighs, packages and more! It was really fun.)

It's a Yuletide miracle, Charlie Brown - Stephanie Perkins: 5 stars (I loved this story, it was just perfect and fitting for the holiday. Romance, love and more! Marigold and North were so cute together, I would love to have a book about them and about their lives together.)

Your Temporary Santa - David Levithan: 1 star (Dear Lord, this was just boring and annoying.)

Krampuslauf - Holly Black: No Rating (I just couldn't finish this one. It started off boring and it kept going on like that, so I didn't care to read further.)

What the hell have you done, Sophie Roth? - Gayle Forman: 5 stars (Soooooo adorable! I loved it, I loved Sophie, I loved Russell, they make a cute couple and I hope they really will get together. <3)

Beer buckets and baby Jesus - Myra McEntire: 1 star (Meh, boring and the characters didn't do anything for me. I didn't like or dislike them, they were nothing special.)

Welcome to Christmas, CA - Kiersten White: 2.5 stars (Wait she gave her entire savings (hopefully the tips and not the 40k) to her friend? I know dedication and friendship, but wtf. It made the story highly unlikely. Up until that point I liked it, but this, no. One does not just give 2k to someone, even if said person is a friend. Do you know how much money that is, it is way too much to just give away. Don't get me wrong, I value my friends. But I would rather offer them help and other things than money. Not like you will get 2k in just a blink of an eye. Other than that, I loved Ben, and I would have liked more Ben.)

Star of Bethlehem - Ally Carter: 4.5 stars (Aww, this was just a wonderful piece, I loved it to bits. The only reason it wasn't a 5 stars is because of the lack of romance. Other that that it is a perfect story for Christmas.)

The girl who woke the dreamer - Laini Taylor: I am not sure. I would say 3 stars, but also 5 stars. (So here I will say why. I didn't feel like this story fitted with this book. Sure it was about Christmas, but in a way different way than the others. Christmas wasn't really the focus in my opinion, but more Neve and growing up, finding a new life, dreaming about a new life. And I think if I read this in a standalone novella I would have given it a 5. But since this is a short story collection I am giving it a 3.)

As you can see 6 stories rated 3 or higher, and 6 rated lower than 3. All in all a balanced book, though I wouldn't know to recommend it or not. I think I would at least recommend people to read the 4 to 5 stars stories, but that is all.

I was very excited to read this and then somewhat disappointed. Being as there are 12 different stories, by 12 different authors, I found myself enjoying some and disliking others because of the variations of the stories. Fantasy is not my typical genre of choice and this contained many stories with fantastical elements that didn't intrigue me. I did enjoy most of the stories though!

I really adored about three of these stories (the Rainbow Rowell one, the Christmas tree one and the Christmas Cafe one), and found most of the rest of them to be very damn solid, with just a couple that I wasn't into. So over all, four stars. There definitely were some trope-y things that I was starting to get tired of - lots of absent parents, meet-cutes, and first kisses. Nothing wrong with any of those in stories in general, but when taken all together like this it got to be a bit much. But in general I quite enjoyed it.
