A fast moving plot line that kept you interested. Some plot twists that I did not see coming. However, the book moved so fast it didn’t bother going too deeply into some plot lines. It was kind of a soap opera where everything and anything happens and it moves on so quick.
the whole Norah storyline with Kevin was a bit pointless. It was brought up every now and then. Forgotten about for a while and then as soon as she speaks about it the whole thing gets sorted and tied neatly in a little bow. Also with Alicia and Meera’s relationship there was a whole oh we are only friends I want more but I don’t know and then as soon as she rocks up randomly they instantly move past that and they’re together in a committed relationship, it just didn’t make any sense apart from ticking that storyline off.
it was a quick and easy read. Love the close to home location since it was in the same state I live in. Not a bad read but not a good one either.

This was a hard book to rate because I did enjoy reading it (though perhaps “enjoy” isn’t the right word as there are major depictions of child abuse, so trigger warnings, folks); it kept me in suspense, wanting to know more.
Except as it turns out the “more” was exactly as I predicted. The plot twist, sans epilogue, was pretty much everything I thought it would be. So I’m proud of myself but also disappointed. I felt like there could have been so much more.
What I did appreciate was the way trauma was presented and how it can be carried through life in different ways. That was realistic and hopefully eye opening to the audience.

I fell in love with each of the sisters and pretty much saw the plot as it all started coming together right near the very end, but that made me enjoy it more.

I would have loved more stories about the girls and their backstories because that was just such a great part of the book.

Some parts of the plot were predictable. The book felt flat to me. The ending was rushed to give it an extra thriller feeling.

I like how the Author addressed what it's like living in the foster care system
I like the Author's writing style and her way of describing characters' backstories and making them feel real, but I wasn't in love with this book.
