This was a great way to start the New Year....a book I didn't want to put down! I grabbed the book from work because (I hate to admit it) I LOVED the cover....and thought I should try her reading as I see her name all over the bookstore.
I was pleasantly surprised with this book...I think it was partly because I didn't know what to expect and partly because I loved the main character's way of life. At first, don't get me wrong, she annoyed me a bit--- but I can imagine that if I had been in the same situation I would have felt dead/numb to the world. I loved her superhero capabilities when it came to dogs--- how fiercely she loved her friends, who raw she felt in the world, how she slowly grew to understand her mother better.....In all, I enjoyed how the story developed and how she changed through the book, but I also loved the postcard mystery....and invisible guardian angel.
Read--- read if you are looking for a good book, love dogs, or want to be reassured that you are not alone in the world.

Such a sweet story. Alice Hoffman has got to be on my top ten list of authors.

I'm not a huge Hoffman fan but when you combine tragedy with coming-of-age you have my attention. Some very sweet moments in this and lots of puppies which is always good.

Good Alice Hoffman. Could tell it was one of her earlier books due to the repetitive writing, but still worth the read. Love her prose.

I appreciate anyone who has struggled or continues to forgive herself. also, being reminded that life happens in the wrong turns, the coincidences, the moments. opening up to these opportunities is living.

Loved this- the development of the main character is wonderful. If I review the main events it sounds terribly depressing, and while it was sad, it left me with a different feeling. I enjoy Hoffman’s writing style and the matter of fact way her stories evolve.

As I continue on my Hoffman-thon...I think I prefer her supernatural fiction more, but I do think this would make a good Netflix original.

I enjoyed this book, but I always like Alice Hoffman books. I gave it a 4 because I like this author's style, but I'm sure it's really a 3 :-).
