I got this book as an Easter gift for my daughter and I just think it is so cute! The illustrations are simple but realistic and the story is short and sweet. The bunny talks about what he likes to do during each of the seasons (watch the snow fall in winter, hide under a toadstool in the spring rain, etc.). Love it :)

Adorable run through of the seasons with Nicholas and his surroundings.

Mother Tongue notes: The illustrations are lovely and perfectly paired with the more challenging reading words. While most of the words are at the beginning reader’s level, each page introduces a challenge word that was often repeated at least 1 more time to help with retention. Quick enough that older students (1st grade) were interested in reading despite being geared toward younger listeners.

I had forgotten all about this book until a mommy blog I read put it at the top of their best books for babies list. I loved this book as a child. I can remember reading it over and over again. I loved the beautiful, colorful illustrations by Richard Scarry. I can remember counting the birds, the butterflies, the frogs, the dandelion seeds, the leaves, but not the snowflakes- too many! Growing up in the desert which doesn't really have seasons, I was fascinated by this book's depiction of all four seasons. And the little bunny is so cute! This book is magic to me. I have no idea where the copy from my childhood is so I bought a new one and Phoebe and I are reading it together. I hope she'll love it as much as I do.

I love this book so much. First, the illustrations by Richard Scarry take me back to the books I used to look at when I was a little, little girl. Secondly, the story is sweet and simple. It is about a little bunny's romp through nature during the four seasons. Reading this books makes me feel warmy and fuzzy on the inside. Finally, this oversized board book was one of the first books I used to read to my oldest daughter when she was a toddler. She used to sit on my lap, and I would read this to her then I just kiss her chubby cheeks over and over. She loved having me read to her. The simple words, the bright colors, and the expressive character make this book the perfect addition to any baby's beginning library.
