Sadly (and surprisingly), I guessed who the murderer was in about half of these stories. In one of them, the clue was so obvious I was surprised that this was written by the Queen of Mystery. BUT, I loved the stories anyway because of the character dynamics, dialogue and the no-frills prose. Highly recommend on those things alone.

Ironically, the stories where I didn’t guess the murderer weren’t as appealing to me. But that could be because those were Poirot and I’m Team Marple.

It’s worth it to pick up the book for the title story alone.

Amo histórias de detetives, e adoro ler Agatha Christie. Sempre muito bom mergulhar em seu universo de crimes sempre resolvidos, um mundo onde não há crimes perfeitos. Recomendo muito.

Having read most of Agatha Christie's work by the time I found this book it was read exclusively for the story Three Blind Mice, which was later made into the play Mousetrap.

And the queen stays queen! There is a reason that Agatha Christie’s stories have continued to top the favorites list of many mystery fans, myself included, and this fast paced novella proves why. I don’t want to give too much away, especially since this is the basis for the longest running play of all time, “The Mousetrap,” but the ending was unexpected. The originality of the twist of this just proves how Christie was the forbearer of all the mysteries that followed, and I’ll always keep coming back for more!

I have so much fun reading Agatha Christie, the only reason i gave this score is I didn’t find the short stories after the three blind mice memorable. I think it may be a me problem though because I haven’t read any of her Miss Marple short stories before. Still a wonderful book
