This is the first book I've read by Hillier and I liked it so much I plan on reading more. This book includes a couple of different timelines and points-of-view - a young girl surviving life with an abusive mother, that same mother about to be released early from prison, the podcaster who wants to remind everyone of what kind of person that woman is, and a young woman accused of killing her wealthy older husband. It was never confusing and the switches between timelines and narration were smooth. Some of the scenes are intense but I was captivated by the clever writing and pleased with the satisfying ending.

Second book I’ve read from this author and I love her work! She’s so good at telling a story and writing ones that are different from other trillers out there

3.5 stars- the book had me hooked in the beginning but then I found it kind of predictable as it went on. It kept me reading, and I enjoyed the layers of the main characters past, just wish the author had kept some of the twists secret for longer.

I thought it was a detective story, but it was a story about child abuse instead. Good book overall, just not what I was expecting

Very well written, nice easy read. I predicted the main twist, but the story was still fun to read nonetheless, so not too mad about it. The other twist was more unexpected, but this reveal was a bit too quick for my liking. I felt like it was announced and resolved all within a few pages when that particular plot line had been such a driving force of the book early on, so it just didn’t seem to match up with the energy of the first half. Good read, but I don’t think I’d revisit it for pleasure.
