My least favourite of these so far - but it was definitely still interesting!

How many of us read the Horrible Histories as children and claimed to know everything about the world? I know I did! I would read the books and the proudly tell anyone that would listen that I knew facts about the world that they couldn't possibly know. I love these books.

Another great Horrible Histories from Terry Deary. This book looks at all the intricacies of Greek civilization. Covering government, sports, warfare and the arts. There are also good tidbits on significant historical players like Alexander, Socrates and the like. All illustrated with the quirky cartoons of Martin Brown, this book is a must for the classroom.

READ IN ENGLISH

I'm a fan of the BBC sketch show Horrible Histories, and I also have an interest in ancient Greek and Roman culture. So this book is something I would really like to read.

And it's very nice to read. Of course is it a children's book, but it is still nice and there are still some thing in it I didn't know. It focusses more on the weird / gore (but still OK for a seven-year-old) details of history. The passages are short, and there are a lot of comics drawn next to the text. I'm quite sure I would have loved to have these books around when I was a kid.

The audiobooks for this should be way longer. They're quite funny and entertaining.

I liked this so much, it's possibly better than the one about the Romans.

When I was a child, I read this book dozens and dozens of times. I recall studying the Ancient Greeks in Year 3 (7-8 years old) and using this book to beat the teacher at knowledge of the Greeks.
It came in handy when watching Disney's Hercules and its subsequent tv series. It was the only Horrible Histories book I read or owned.
It went missing along with most of my childhood books and is probably in a bag in the loft. I did find a copy though which was just as well-used as my own copy. Reading it was a slice of nostalgia and a refresher of my knowledge. It surprised me how quickly I got through it, but it reminded me of being a kid again.
It's also a fabulous and fun history book! Worth a read - all kids should read it at some point.

I read all of the horrible histories book when I was younger and I even collected the magazines. I picked this up because I felt a bit nostalgic and I'm glad I did because it still had the ability to force a smile out of me, just like it did all those years ago. I would recommend these books to children and even adults, while it is written to engage and be understood by children and presented through various means such as quizzes, sketch story boards etc, it will probably make you smile at least once and you might learn something you never knew before. These books started off my deep interest and love for the ancient Greeks, Romans, and ancient Egyptians. I could never give this book any less than five stars, as it excels at what it is trying to do. It makes history fun and interesting for children, as I remember my primary school history classes, wasn't such an easy thing to do.

Once again I'm not going to give this a rating but it was such a fun and quick read that I managed to finished in one evening. It made me chuckle at points and loved reading about the Greeks, especially their mythology.
