my favourite thing about this novella was its form - the way it is divided into ten parts (ten weeks) and the story is pretty much entirely told in dialogue.

it was very speedy to read, and lets just say this couple LOVE a metaphor. the entire story was essentially told through metaphor. and the pre marriage counselling pint pretty much never achieved anything lol.

but it was fun! i enjoyed

Like the couple in this book, I think Hornby and I should go to some sort of counseling. The spark is gone. At least on my part.

I needed a book to read in 2 hours during my commute and at a coffee shop because I was going to get to work early. This book is that long.

Otherwise, woof. Too-clever banter between a married couple who don’t love one another anymore. They don’t get divorced but they won’t ever be in love again… surely there are other pains in this life!

More of a novella, really. Probably one of my least favorites, from Hornby. Maybe I related to the characters less just because I don't have kids.

I've always wanted to write dialogue like Nick Hornby.
