Zack and Ruben were interesting but Angel and Jon really stole the show.
The second half of this book is definitely much stronger than the first. I found myself frustrated at the lack of communication and immature behaviour from both Zack and Ruben in the first 50%.
To me the conflict they had after they kissed for the first time made Ruben look like a very shitty friend. I didn't understand why he didn't put the pieces together about why Zack needed that much space or at least was a little less defensive about Zack avoiding him. It feels out of character even though he is supposed to be a teen it stands out as a uniquely unkind reaction.

it was fun! nothing spectacular or excitingly noteworthy, but i may be biased because i've read a lot of boyband fan fiction… nevertheless, it was a great book. it delivers exactly what it promises yet has its own emotional and unique moments that made me finish it all in one day. aside from it being a delightful romance, it dives into the world of entertainment: how abusive management companies can be (especially towards group acts), the unsettling nature of fan behavior yet also its weird comfort, & the hectic schedules of different performers. it made me rethink my perspective of celebrities and reminded me to be more cautious in my “fangirling” as well as avoiding parasocial relationships.

i thought the arch about angel was so important, and really props to the authors for including the aspects/effects of fame in the romance as well as the surrounding characters. it didn't take away from their relationship, or was rushed/unexpected. we see a gradual increase of substance abuse from angel, with multiple vulnerable moments leading up to the car crash. the creation of his personality also played a vital role in accurately showing readers how often this happens in the industry, how those who value fun and joy in their everyday lives, may feel so pent up by the stress and control of fame and end up turning to drugs.

I found this book hard to get into and also in some areas lacking in research overall it was good but I thought it felt unfinished at the end.

There were lots of things i loved about this book. i liked the focus on mental health, identity, and the role of celebrity and paradoxical relationships. i liked that both leads had problems to overcome individually and together. the supporting characters were also handled well. sometimes the narrative could delve into too black and white, but still had enough contemplation to keep me engaged.
