I loved this. Couldn’t put it down. I’m picky about Hades and Persephone retellings, I need a strong willed Persephone with agency and a sweet, respectful, misunderstood Hades with a heart of gold who loves her more than anything in the world. This delivered. I loved that this was a faerie retelling, I loved the slow burn, I loved the pacing of the story, the characters, I could go on and on. There are so many cute moments where I found myself smiling while reading. It was great and I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes myth retellings and any Lore Olympus fans.
My only criticism are their ages… why does persephone have to be 17? I would’ve preferred if she wasn’t a literal child, even 19 would’ve been so much better because regardless of how great Hades is he’s not 17… there is no reason she needs to be so young.
I also didn’t love the whole I’ve known you your whole life but you don’t remember thing… it ties in well for plot purposes but I didn’t like it as part of their relationship it’s weird, and him being so involved in her relationship with her mother is also weird to me. I would’ve preferred if that subplot was separate from him. It didn’t ruin it for me but definitely it irked me a little.
