It's....meh.
I read the last book of this series first (Madam Lynn's story) and I really liked it. This one just wasn't it.
Some of my issues with it: the therapist sucked (shouldn't have offered her tissues, didn't actually work w/ Dahlia to solve her problems and how many times can you ask "how did that make you feel??)
the bdsm wasn't that great nor was it the focus. it was spicy and it was hot, but I wanted more of a fleshed out D/s relationship.
and I guess the "growth" that the couple went through wasn't very fleshed out either. nothing seemed solved, and all Lucian wanted to do was to fix it for her? idk, it wasn't great, wasn't awful.

IDK. This isn’t any better than 50 Shades. Also these people were just talking in circles.

It's relatively well-written, but the plot is bare bones and the characters are two-dimensional. Giving them both a past is not actual characterization, and their relationship develops in about 2 pages. To each their own, but I prefer a lot more plot with my smut.

This had the bones to be an interesting read. However, the way that issues such as rape were handled just weren’t it for me. Their relationship didn’t feel realistic and I’m not in a rush to continue the series.

I’m honestly disappointed in the story as there’s no plot really. I thought Dahlia would speak about her trauma and Lucian would help her move on (while fucking her) but it didn’t happen. Instead Lucian hired someone to stalk Dahlia and that’s how he finds out about her uncle raping her and how no one believed her so he tries to help her. The story should’ve expanded that and talk more about how Lucian felt guilt for feeling like he isn’t the one to help Dahlia. To me, the story seems so fast paced and it would slow down out of nowhere that I had to sometime go back to see if I somehow skipped pages.

As for the sex scenes themselves, it was a let down. They were good but for the story to be about bdsm you would think it would lean more into that besides spanking. But that’s all they do. Fucking and spanking that’s all. Hopefully by the next book it would be actual bdsm and not just ass spanking and I get it, Dahlia has no experience and is trying to find her limits but I would’ve loved to see them testing those limits.

The story had potential it was a fun read but I would’ve loved if they expanded more on the characters and their trauma and their feelings for each other before it ended.

this was good in terms of spice, but I felt like the story wasn't finished? I was flying through the book but the characters weren't developing at the same rate. There were so many other ways that this storyline could have been executed and it would've just been better.
