* I read this book while it was made available to me through Net Galley; it was given to me for an honest review.*

Jillian Rodgers, a physician, met the good-looking Mark Jefferson on a ski slope. In the span of a few hours, he had befriended her. Before the day was over, they went out to dinner. They ended up having insta-sex. This plot-device, in addition to no chemistry, was disappointing.

Jillian had recently been dumped by her longtime boyfriend Andy and, naturally, her self-esteem was at a low. The fact that Mark was a smooth-talker gave her the jitters. The little voices in her head told her to stay clear of him but she ignored them. After their 36 hour date-fest and an attempted murder, Mark disappeared.

I was looking for a new author with some experience writing 'romantic suspense' and the premise of this story looked promising. I became encouraged when I saw how many positive ratings the author had with previous published books. Because this was an ARC, I forgave all the grammatical errors.

Unfortunately, all of the characters felt flat. The dialog was stilted and I was never immersed in the plot. One quarter of the way in, I still had no idea who or why someone was pursuing Mark and Jillian. I was determined to finish the story because I had requested the ARC. I am giving it two stars because of the tension the author imparted. Regrettably, the rest of the story was hard to enjoy and I cannot recommend this romance.
