This book touched me in so many ways, the author put into words emotions that were amazing. Though I generally dislike historical fiction most of the time, this book captured my imagination and feelings. Being taken back to the Little House world through an adult lens was interesting, and Miller did a fantastic job making Caroline a three-dimensional woman. The prejudices of the settlers were very much mentioned but it appeared to be an accurate understanding of at least one side of the story (the settlers, not the Native Americans), however, controversial that history might be.
<Spoiler>There were a few sex scenes, one that was in more detail but I appreciated how healthy and honest it was portrayed. The relationship between Caroline and Charles in general was written with so much love and respect.
