This is a second chance romance that hooked me from the start. I loved the small town nature of the story. The couple, Sarah and Aiden were high school sweethearts who ended up going their separate ways after Aiden makes a life changing choice without consulting Sarah. Years later, they pair meet up again in their hometown and the connection between the two is undeniable. I loved the way the story was told and the connection that these two share.

Okay, I liked this book, but not more than the previous one. While Sarah and Aiden were charming characters, and the reason they broke up was valid (yes, here I support Sarah), I felt that the push and pull between them was a bit too much for me.

The overall story was good; they gave me glimpses of the past and how they started and ended. However, I would have liked to see a little more. Also, believe it or not, I understood Gabe (Sarahโ€™s older son) and his teenage attitude, but there were moments when I wanted to step into the book and tell him a few things and his father too. Our girl went through a lot, but I'm glad she has Aiden by her side. I appreciated that he didn't feel that all the years they spent apart should prevent them from being together again. The push and pull I mentioned mostly came from Sarah and her fears, but rightfully so.

thanks to the author and the author agency for a e-copy of this book.

I really enjoyed this second chance romance. Aiden and Sarah were high school sweethearts. Aiden joined the military and even though Sarah had intended to wait for them, but she could only wait so long. Sarah and Aiden finally both return to Wilder Valley and he canโ€™t stay away.

Having the chronic pain representation in this book meant a lot to me as a chronic pain sufferer. I havenโ€™t read enough books where there are MCs that I can relate to like I could with Sarah.

Thank you to The Author Agency for my audio and digital gifted copies of this book.

Sarah has been crushing on Aiden for the longest time, so it feels like a dream when Aiden finally returns her feelings and they start dating. But her dreams were shattered when Aiden decided to enlist in the military. Aiden proposed and asked her to wait for 3 years to come back and marry her. Fast forward 20 years later, Sarah is now divorcing her husband (not Aiden) and going back to her parentโ€™s home with 2 teenage boys, just as Aiden decided to retire from the militaryโ€ฆ.

The book picks right up from Wild Hearts, when Aiden suddenly shows up at the family dinner. Just around the same time, Sarah came back to town after divorcing her cheating husband. We slowly learn the snippets of their relationship while Aiden was in the military for the first time through their letter exchange. Because I have no idea what made their relationship crumble years ago, I was curious the whole time until it was revealed later in the book.

I will always pick up a second chance romance book, itโ€™s one of my all-time favorite tropes. I love the grovel that is usually involved, and Aiden did a top-notch groveling, and I love that. Heโ€™s definitely the one in the wrong, and it was hard listening to the flashback of their breakup years ago. But he did make it up in my opinion, especially what he did at the end. A big grand gesture from the hero always gets me! Poor Sarah, she went through so much in her life, from Aidenโ€™s selfishness, her cheating husband, and her chronic pain, this woman just cannot get a break. But she is such a good mother to her boys, and she worked really hard for them. So she deserves everything, and Aiden is ready to give it to her. This is how a second chance romance should end, and I love their story so much.

I love both narrators, they have done a great job delivering the characters into life, itโ€™s so easy to listen and I enjoy my time with this book. Samantha particularly did such a great job portraying other characters with her voice, I could feel the distinction from one character to another, well done!

Wild Mistake
Wilder Valley
By: Kacey Shea
Narrated by: Robert Hatchet, Samantha Brentmoor

WOW! I am a huge Kacey Shea fan, and this book is exactly why. Second chances, real life circumstances, and the best for me was it was mature adults. Aiden and Sarah were high school sweethearts, destined to be together forever. When Aiden signs up for the army, the two survive the three year contract only to find out that he signed to be an army ranger. Sarah decided immediately that living that life was not for her and they broke up. Now Aiden is back, years later to spend time with his ailing father only to find out Sarah is back with her two kids and has left her husband. Now Aiden sees this as an opportunity. He knows what he left, and he knows what he wants. But will Sarah be on board? After her marriage failed, she isn't sure what she wants to do, or if a second chance with Aiden is what she wants. This is an incredibly emotional story, with feel good moments, heartbreak and passion. The kids just add an extra feeling of realism as Sarah's life is layered and shows just how difficult and easy it all can be. Loved this story, and it's an amazing addition to the Wilder Valley series.

Two of my favorite narrators bring it all to life. Samantha Brentmoor and Robert Hatchet bring it with an amazing performance. Brentmoor instills so much emotion in her voice, as mom, as a waitress and as a desirable woman. Hatchet is that man, you know the one that can't be gotten out of her system. He is compassionate with his dad, and protective and sensual with Sarah. These two are always so good together and they created magic with this one.
