I truly believe graphic novel anthologies aren't for me. I read this for class, feel a little odd about a non-Native storyteller editing this Native anthology, but perhaps his heart was in the right place? Some of the art is GORGEOUS and some not to my taste. Some good stories but some not.

An anthology of trickster tales (a trickster is a crafty creature with chaotic intentions) from different Native American tribes.

Graphic collection of a variety of Native American trickster myths, using the words of authentic sources and a variety of artists. Clever, sly, fucked up, surprising, expected, and ever-so-human: this is a genre of storytelling that never ceases to delight and entrance me.

This immersive collection of fables showcases a variety of storytelling styles, purposes, and artistic interpretations from a variety of Indigenous American storytellers. Brief biographies are listed in the back for reference.

I’d say this is a very solid collection of Native American trickster stories. The way many of them are written seems to emulate oral storytelling, which is fitting considering the material. This would be a very good introduction for someone interested in Native American folktales.
