Reading this was painful. Upsetting. I probably won't read another book like it in the future.

Tyler said he "didn't want to be alone anymore". He was never alone. He isolated himself in his grief and then when he successfully pushed ppl away, he turned that grief to anger. I can't feel bad for him though. He wasn't a good person before the shooting. As much as autumn tried to paint him as a saint because he was there for her. he's homophobic, a rap*st, and manipulative/controlling.Graphic: Mass/school shootings, Grief, Toxic friendship, Suicide, Sexual violence, Panic attacks/disorders, Outing, Death, Suicidal thoughts, Sexual harassment, Sexual assault, Rape, Murder, Gore, Child death, Car accident, Blood, Gun violence, Bullying, Lesbophobia, Death of parent, Violence, Physical abuse, Islamophobia, Terminal illness, Mental illness, Injury/Injury detail, Homophobia, Emotional abuse, Domestic abuse, Dementia, Child abuse, and Hate crime

the book starts almost instantly with the shooting and you don’t really know the characters yet. It’s not tense enough as you haven’t grown attached to any of them yet. It’s a difficult topic but some scenes didn’t feel realistic. A disappointing read.

Moderate: Lesbophobia, Outing, and Homophobia

Sylvia seemed way more worried and torn up about her girlfriend being shot in the knee than she was about her twin brother being murdered while she was in a classroom nearby. I would have thought that, even though she had been avoiding him for months due to a rape and (assumed) pregnancy/abortion that she didn't want him to know about, she would have been way more torn up about her twin brother, someone she shared a womb and lifetime with, than her girlfriend. Heck, her girlfriend (Autumn) was grabbing onto her brother's hand after he shot himself, and he was the school shooter! Sylvia pretty much walked past her brother's body and didn't react much. I'm sure shock was part of it, but it didn't feel real. I also stopped caring about Claire and her story once the cops showed up and was annoyed every time we were brought to her POV except for her conversations with her brother, Mark.Graphic: Child death, Gun violence, Violence, and Death
Moderate: Lesbophobia, Bullying, and Child abuse
Minor: Outing

In between chapters it sometimes also has tweets or blog posts from other students or people connected to students/ teachers at the school and also some that aren’t connected to the school or it’s pupils and staff whatsoever. They show different reactions from the outside and inside to what is happening.
I gave it 3.5 stars out of 5 because even though this is an important subject and the character POV’s we’re very interesting, I don’t want to read this book again. I don’t feel very attached to it, BUT I would recommend this to people. I think it’s a good read for once and then you kind of just… move on.
It’s written in easy English and I think anyone could read this, unless you get triggered by things that happen in the book. Which is why I think it is important to read trigger warnings.
