I was so disappointed with this book. After reading the first book in this series (The Bookshop on the Corner), I was expecting a follow-up to Nina and Lennox’s story in the Scottish Highlands.
Instead, we get a completely different story with brand new characters. We do still get Nina and Lennox featured. The plot of this book has the potential to be so much better than the first. But with the significant and numerous grammatical errors and typos, I just couldn’t give this more than two stars. The author’s writing errors even included using the wrong character name for one of the people!
It really is a shame that Colgan’s editor fumbled this so badly. This book had the potential to be better than its predecessor, but due to the overwhelming amount of errors, I couldn’t get past them.

DNF at 19% after two attempts. One of my favourite authors but this was a miss for me.
*Update - I finally picked this one back up and I’m glad I did! While parts were quite slow, and it was a lot more serious than I expected, this was a really great novel. Colgan tackles some very real issues in this book and the Scottish highlands setting is just to die for.

While I didn't enjoy it as much as the first one, it was still a delightful warm hug.

I enjoyed this more than I expected! It is well-written with lively characters and a plot that moves at a pleasant pace. I like that the main characters have other stuff happening in their lives besides each other.
Graphic: Pregnancy
Moderate: Mental illness
