Reread 5 years later.
The movie is nothing like the book.
In the movie it’s fake dating but in the book it’s actually friends with benefits, it’s seems like the pg-13 version of spice and I ATE IT UP.

Now, I think you have to take into account that this book is a product of its time. Because no one would say that a fat ass and tiny boobs is a bad thing now. And yes she said that for a fat ass I was really invisible. But somehow the beauty standard in this is big boobs and blonde hair. Because her best friends were the definition of that.
But Bianca was just so annoying, I mean I get that you might hate everything but like even activities with your friends? If you hate everything then what do you do in your free time? Apparently she
screws Wesley
in her free time.
I like that he makes her less bitter,
she seems like a better person at the end of the book and is actually able to reflect on her mindset. Which is great because she really annoyed the shit out of me. Always judging others, for what? For hooking up and having a life. Wesley wasn’t even a manwhore or a fuckboy, he respected women and knew not to play with their hearts. I don’t get what the problem is, yeah he had lots of sex, SO WHAT? and then she judged others for something she ALSO does. Like girl stop playing with me

I love, love, love this book! The characters were super relatable. I absolutely loved Wesley-probably because he's basically my type. I couldn't put this book down. It's one of my new favorites!

I read this book after watching the movie, so for anyone in that boat just know the book and movie are vastly different! But I have to say, I honestly think I like the movie better (which never happens) only because I’m probably too old to be reading/watching high school dramas (I’m 32 but can’t let go of my YA!) so the reason I like the movie was really for the comedy which was carried by Mae Whitman who plays Bianca, and the book wasn’t really that funny nor was Bianca’s character. What I did like about the book though was the more complex issues that Bianca was facing, and more characterization with Wesley, so for that I give it 3.5 stars! Overall, an entertaining read.

I read this book because I loved the movie. And while it is almost nothing like the movie, I really enjoyed it.
The characters and their motives felt a lot more thought out and full.

This book was a favorite of mine growing up. Upon another read, it didn’t hold up nearly as well but the main premise still holds up. A great read for a tough weekend. There are certain passages that 13 year old me still maintains as the reason I was able to start accepting myself and my body. A great teen read, maybe not an adult one.
