This book has me haunted. It was more graphic than the worst horror film. It should come with a warning label.

A bit too gruesome for me and a lot of different details to keep track of. That being said, it was captivating and got right into it with new additions being included each page, which built up into a really good story. Obvi the privileged white woman nonsense about feminism annoy me
Spoiler (and the fact that claire goes out with Nolan, a grade A asshole who was torturing her after the death of her husband.
only a ✋🏻woman would think of that to be an even semi decent addition to the novel.) but I still ate it up so Ms. slaughter will get another read out of me. Interesting and sad. The gore went far however, I do not believe it added enough to the book to be so pivotal during almost every page. I did enjoy this read and I’m better for it

This book was just amazing. It is a bit slow but wow was it intense?
Spoiler you think that by revealing the husband’s secret in the beginning of the book would make it boring, but it only made more exciting. I kept doubting with Claire if her husband truly was this evil man. But as I continued reading, I couldn’t contain my shock by every revelation that kept coming. Just one after the other. And I think the ending was well done and concluded the story wonderfully.

All in all, a great book for someone looking for a dark thriller. I do want to say that the book does get a bit intense and depicts certain things that can trigger some people so fair warning.

This was a really great thriller but extremely dark. As much as I've been loving Karin Slaughter's books lately, I think I need a break. In fact, I had to take a break from listening to this one about 70% through. However, I did discover that it is a trend in her books that there are two sister narrators, said sisters were estranged in some way, it takes place in Georgia, and some character is either a veterinarian or loves animals.

Pretty Girls was better than False Witness but not as strong as The Good Daughter. Sisters Lydia and Claire lost their oldest sister Julia back in 1991 when Julia was 19. She disappeared one day on her way back from a party in college and was never found. In the present, Lydia has a teenage daughter and a boyfriend, while Claire's husband was just murdered. When Claire finds some incriminating material on her late husband's computer, she contacts her estranged sister for help. You will honestly not believe what happens next (yes, I know that's cliche to say).

Again, this was a good thriller but reader beware that this is very very dark.
