Wonderful new take on the period romance story - I always love a period romance but so often it is with the idea that equality does not exist in these societies and is never discussed.

This book takes all the best bits of period romances and adds in discussions around the suffragette movement, the political landscape of the time and societal expectations.

I’m very much looking forward to the rest of the series!

Very much enjoyed. A slow burn, lingering touches, sizzling romance, and great characters. I particularly loved Annabelle's group of friends and am excited they're the focuses of the next books in the series. The plot going on behind the romance is the woman's suffrage movement in England, which I also found interesting. At first, Annabelle just uses the movement to get into Oxford, but then she truly becomes part of it.

Great character arcs, how the wants of the love interests forced them to clash, but in the end...it's of course a HEA.

This might have potential but I really don’t care for the love interest. His first reaction is anger, often identified by threatening body language of which the FMC was fearful, and I just don’t care for violent men in my regency romance.

This book was unexpectedly good. The writing was vivid and beautiful in a way that I just did not anticipate. I expected this book to merely be a diversion, I didn’t actually anticipate appreciating the prose, world building, and character development. At the end of the day it’s still a romance novel, though, so you must appreciate it for what it is instead of bemoaning what it’s not.
