The book was slow and really repetitive, and it dragged. Simply Lies was described as a “psychological thriller”. Psychological, it was. But thriller, not so much. There finally was some “action” but most of it came in the last 50 pages of a 400 plus page novel.

Fun quick read - a mystery adventure.
Mick is ex-cop single mom doing online sleuthing to find assets that rich people are trying to hide. She get pulled in to a murder/treasure hunt by Francine (Clarisse or whatever her name is...). Turns out the FBI guy killed him because he skipped out on him when he left the WITSEC program. He and fellow WITSEC buddy pimped out their 13 year old daughters, blackmailed the rich clients, and stole as much as they could along the way.  The guy that is killed is also the one in WITSEC in the first place because he was the CPA for the mob. He was getting in trouble for molesting kids so he ratted on the mob, kept the money he stole, and then escaped into WITSEC.  Francine is one messed up adult as you can imagine. She has gotten good at running her own cons across a wide spectrum of illegal activities. Mick keeps digging and there are lots of twists and turns along the way. They end up taking down a billionaire that trafficked girls with the help of his dad.  Then they finally find the treasure - stolen paintings and get a finders fee.  "Aunt" Francine joins the family and they ride off into the sunset.
