It took me 2 tries to get into this book. The first time, I read somewhere around 50 pages, and just wasn't moved to continue reading. The second time around, I started approximately where I stopped the first time (a few months ago), and I was able to get into the book. If 1/2 stars were possible, I'd give this 3.5 stars. It's always fun for me to hear Dexter's thoughts, so that's a plus. The pacing was really off for me, but once the story picked up, it really picked up. I really enjoyed the last half of the book.

Killer ending, or is that masterful? One of my favorite things is how Dexter gets out of situations in spite of his best intentions. Dirty pleasure for sure.

A thoroughly entertaining and well written, if not wildly fanciful and highly illogical caper in the Dexter series! An interesting premise takes one too many convenient turns for my liking, but the prose of Dexter is as charming as ever. This book felt more like an almost 300 page set up for what is to come, but the writing makes the journey almost not a slog.

Slow in the middle but enjoyed Dexter being dumbfounded, good ending.
