Firstly, Sally Rooney could definitely write this. Secondly, I can see why some places banned this book. And finally, I severely underestimated this book. The blurb also seriously underestimated it, too. And not gonna lie, I could probably analyse this for weeks and still have material to chat about. Good book. Philosophy in action innit.

If everyone grows up conditioned to think a certain way, then the reason why Brave New World feels like a dystopia is that it contradicts our conditioning. And the pre-conditioned gnawing feeling about human rights aside, the Brave New World seems in many ways better than ours. Free will — what’s that, anyway? I didn’t choose my life either, and the prospect of working 9-5s day after day honestly makes me want to pop some soma.

Literary speculative sci-fi my beloved….
I don’t think I’ve ever read a book from this time period with pacing this quick, and it was so interesting to me. My copy is all annotated because how could I not underline half the book???!!
