Alright, lots to say here. First of all I want to mention that objectively this book isn't very good. I could write a whole thesis about that, but I won't because I actually did enjoy reading it. The part of me that never stopped loving YA fantasy really had a great time with this one. There are a few things that irked me though that I'll mention. For one, the excessive use of the "wait, did I really just think that?" trope was so absurdly bothersome. I really really hate that and it was used for things like "he's cute, I wanna kiss him". Shocker, that. For two, really? I mean, really? it's the cute guy, his mom, AND the seemingly innocuous side character that's never mentioned? It's like someone told White to try to fit all the cliches into this book, and man did she deliver. Like I said, I enjoyed it, but I think another writer could have turned a similar story into a 5 star book.
