Summer, an actress, is spending a week at her wealthy in-laws. Her husband Gage comes from a big family with 3 brothers. Gages twin brother, brings a new woman with him Hannah, who is also an actress. Summer had worked with Hannah before and when she mentioned it to Hannah, Hannah acted like she was crazy. Well it was suspected Hannah had stole some things during that production. At dinner Nick mentions he and Hannah are engaged only after two months.
Summer is quite suspect of this and she immediately thinks the worse of Hannah and her motives.

Gages’s mother dies from an apparent heart attack while her family was there, but Summer thinks Hannah was involved by poisoning her future MIL.

Then another body was found dead and Summer is convinced Hannah is a murderer.

The twists and turns in this book kept me flipping pages and I couldn’t wait for Summer to bring Hannah down once and for all. Yet, with any good thriller just when you think you have everything figured out, it goes a completely different direction that I didn’t see coming!

What a fresh, enjoyable read!

It's hard to make a domestic thriller stand out in a time when they flood the shelves left and right. And, to be entirely frank, The Fiancée doesn't necessarily do anything new or unseen in the genre. It does, however, fit all the pieces together in a way that is competent, exciting, and compelling.

I had to force myself to put this one down at times. White's writing style is one that I found to be super smooth and comforting, the narration being strong, consistent, and clear. This is what made the book truly stand out for me. I just really liked the way this was written.

The story itself, as I said above, isn't entirely unheard of, but the setting is described in the perfect amount of detail and our characters, though at first overwhelming in number, were interesting. The reveal was satisfying and felt much less cliche than it could've been. I'm exhausted by the "my husband won't believe me!" trope that frequents this genre, but it was conducive to the story so I let it slide this time

3.5 stars rounded up

Despite the mixed reviews, I've enjoyed this book. It has a good premise and it's a bit of a family mystery/drama. In a way, it felt a bit like a Miss Marpole story where you are given a few ingredients and just watch the things unfold and try to make sense of it all.

The ending could have been a bit better but all in all I enjoyed this book!

My current spree of psychological thrillers is turning into an outcome a little similar to too much chocolate- enough already with the all to familiar twist at the end & unlikely murderer. Time for another genre/type

Pretty good, more like 4.5 stars. Pretty thrilling and a twist I didn’t really see coming, but I’ve read better suspense novels I think.

It's time for the annual family get-together at the in-law's sprawling estate. Summer, Gabe, and her stepson are excited to go. But this year it winds up being a little different. A new person shows up and not everyone is too keen on the idea. Hannah seems nice but things aren't quite as they seem in Summer's eyes.
Things take a big turn when a family member suddenly dies and it's ruled natural causes, however, Summer isn't so quick to settle on that diagnosis. She starts to investigate Hannah even though Gabe dismisses her suspicions.

I enjoyed this book very much. I couldn't stop reading because I needed to know what happened next in this family drama. This story takes some wild turns and keeps you wondering about every key player in it. This is the 3rd book I read by Kate White and it won't be my last.
