I really enjoyed this book. Smith has a way of dropping hints about characters without giving anything away. The characters are wonderfully written and captivating. I love that some of the characters from previous stories played significant roles in this story as well as others making appearances or being mentioned. Reading this book was like coming home to a familiar world that I enjoy spending time in.

Graham and Theo are interesting characters who captured my attention from the start. Both are struggling with the burdens that have been placed on them as they want to honor their family’s history and the role they play in protecting their country and the crown. Their time together on page is always interesting and fun to read. Graham’s niece and nephew added lightness to the story when they were on page or their antics were mentioned.

Due to the underlying mystery plot, I would recommend reading this series in order – that way you’ll get to meet the characters and not miss out on significant plot points in the storyline that links all the books.
