I've not been the biggest fan of short story collections in the past but so far this year I have been able to read several good ones and I have found them a good way of finding out about new authors. I was able to read this one as part of the LibraryThing review program in exchange for an honest review and was looking forward to getting stuck into reading it.
The Night Terrors anthology is a collection of 17 short stories, of which three are classics by Mark Twain, Guy de Maupassant and Edgar Allan Poe. The classic stories highlight the way horror stories have changes in the past couple hundred years and yet don't feel out of place amongst this varied collection of modern tales. The newer stories have a good mixture of themes including vampires, ghosts, zombies, aliens and giant insects - all of which are well written and helps turn this into a real page turner.
I enjoyed many of the stories here and don't recall finishing a bad one which is something I find rare with such a mixture of authors and themes. I found the collection really easy to keep reading with my personal favourite being Share The Love - a tale featuring both aliens and zombies.
In all I found this collection really enjoyable and can happily recommend it to any horror reader as I am sure you will find most stories here enjoyable. A real treat this was.
