I first read this when I was younger. It was a great story with an interesting plot and realistic characters.
Mary Kate and Ashley are in Hawaii and Ashley being Ashley gets kicked out on the first day. Weird things start happening and all sorts of wacky stuff occurs throughout the time they spend camping.
I could read this over and over again.

(Found a bunch of MK+A books in the library booksale/donations, and you can bet I'm going to log every one)
I remember loving the diary books as a kid, but they seem to be mainly just first person narrative with the add in of "Can you believe that, Diary?" every now and then to remind you of that fact that it's supposed to be a diary entry
All of the classic Mary Kate and Ashley fun with some camping/hiking mixed in.
Super sad because the deadline for that contest entry was 12/1/02
