Meh. It started to drag in the middle of I stopped even caring what happened to the main character, I just wanted it to end. Which it eventually did. Quite hurriedly in fact.

This book was almost impossible to put down! The story seems to unfold quickly, but then there are several surprising twists and once they start, they take it to the end.

Katherine is a wonderful character and has so many human flaws and behaviors that are easy to understand and relate to - but also goes pretty far in a number of ways that make you question "what would I do?"

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a fast-paced psychological novel, much like Better or Worse by Margot Hunt or Still Lives by Maria Hummel. I will trigger warn about violence against children, and that violence happens off the page, so it is not descriptive and it is only mentioned a couple of times.

There was a lot too this. It made for a fun and quick summer read. I didn’t have it all figured out early but I was usually ahead of the plot reveals and I was on track the entire time. It was still fun to read and work it out.. I liked the story and main characters but the journey could have been cut and cleaned up for a neater finish in the story. My one frustration is that the protagonist was supposed to be smart but kept ignore if her intuition and didn’t use her preset researching abilities very well at all, so I had to let that go to enjoy it. I would recommend print over audio as one main character’s voicing was done horribly and was completely annoying on the audio version.
