Donny cates has been writing so much recently and has been gaining a lot of popularity recently and after reading this and thanks wind I think he deserves the love.

Rex - the god of symbiotes comes to earth and all the symbiotes start acting up including Eddie Brock’s who has to team up with a war veteran and miles morales Spider-Man to beat the villain

My thoughts - it took me a while to get into this since the first couple of issues were really boring and I just couldn’t care enough to enjoy them but then it gets awesome by adding new characters into the mix and the last issues are really fun. The art is really good but the colouring was really bland sometimes and ugly.

Overall good book

Surprisingly interesting content, if I ignore the King in Black stuff lol

Another very clever re-arrangement of things in the Marvel universe underpinned by character and a good story by Donny Cates.

I spent most of the volume confused. It seemed like the new plot came out of nowhere. At least the symbiote said they loved Eddie right at the very end. >_>

So I’ve never been a Venom fan. I got it for free during the pandemic. this story was very steeped in cosmic horror. Ryan Stegman‘s art was a highlight and the main reason you should read this book. As for the story itself, I didn’t love it because whenever there is a God symbiote character that just shows up out of nowhere, I kind of glazed over it because they probably just invented for the story and they don’t have the heft for me to care. In issue three when we’re dealing with this Symbiot God‘s backstory I just glanced over it, whatever it’s monologging The story for me was OK but not great but definitely read the book for the art because Ryan Stegman knocked it out of the park

Cates does the Venom character justice, not by shoehorning him into the role of hero, but by throwing the character into his own survival story that expands his mythology while still maintaining connections to the larger Marvel Universe.
