Captivating is right. I loved everything about this story, all the way to the acknowledgements - so clever! Karma, please write every secret book you've got bonking around in your head, because I will read them.

Decepcionante
A historia do emprego, as mentiras, a amiga..

I think there were many parallels for me to connect with Alice in my own season of life. the comeradery of woman through out the generations and having so many conflicting feelings of what it means to exist in a patriarchal society made the book very easy to connect with

This was a fast read and a pleasant one (despite some heavy topics). I didn't think the recipes were super well incorporated into the story lines -but I'm not a cook or a baker so I just didn't read them and that was fine by me but I'm guessing it must have bothered some people. I was a bit disappointed in the end. It was a bit fast -I would have liked to know about the women's futures. So the book, while nice, left me hungry for more (see what i did there!).

I liked the contrasts and comparisons between Nellie and Alice's stories. I connected with them both in different ways. The story overall felt like it was missing something though, and sometimes felt it didn't have a clear direction. I preferred Nellie's chapters and
they reminded me a bit of the show Why Woman Kill.
