Clifford Island is stuck in the nineties. Almost literally. The citizens watch the same shows, carry the same boom boxes, and wear the same clothes. At first Willow thinks this is just a fad, but she realizes that its something more.
Now Willow is missing and her brother Harper comes to find her. He knows immediately that something is off. He is given a bigger glimpse of the thing that comes out at night.
Lily is a local high school student. She is tired of the stupid rules and traditions. She doesn't believe the stories that are told. She wants to prove everyone is ridiculous and she's willing to risk everyone. She just wants to get off the island.
The book felt slow at the start, sped up in the middle, and kind of fizzled out at the end. It was interesting to get the essence of what was happening on the island.
