This was really fun! Equal parts Coco and Fablehaven , this is definitely a story about how family goes beyond biology and love can be complicated. I will say I was expecting a bit more spookiness with the hotel, but it’s a fun dimension hopping adventure that I think a lot of kids will really enjoy. I would have adored this when I was a middle grade kid.

Representation: the entire family is Latinx and the story is initially set in a hotel in Mexico. Charlotte is adopted and Olive self-identifies as queer.

It was a good graphic novel. It has some Spanish words mentioned throughout the plot. It’s a Hispanic fantasy book with some Hispanic/Spanish myths and holiday, such as Dias De Los Muertos and Quetzalcoatl, mentioned throughout the plot. Would be a great read during Halloween or September, since September is Hispanic month.

ENGLISH REVIEW
I've started to read this novel because of the cover (which is so amazing) and I really liked it!
First of all, I loved the drawings: this is the style that I prefer and the colors were wonderful!
The story was pretty cool and I liked all the "new worlds" and the fact that it was pretty fantasy. Oh, and I loved the creatures. ❤️
I would really love to read more about these authors!

I wanted to thank NetGalley and the publishers for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I was lucky enough to get a copy of this from Netgalley.

This was an excellent graphic novel with a diverse range of characters.
On the surface it's a tale of fantasy worlds, but it's main theme is the power of family, both born and chosen. It's also about belief in yourself and trust in others.
The story was entertaining and the artwork excellent.
