Okay so I normally don’t review the super weird unhinged erotica but I actually enjoyed this one??? Idk what that says about me

After the climax I just kinda got bored. This might be one I finish on a plane ride or on vacation

Giving this an ‘it’s complicated’ for diversity because the main guy is literally a tree.

This was for sure a bizarre read. But I also couldn't help but love it. There were a few things here and there that wasn't for me, but overall I really loved the story.

Ash was surprisingly sweet and caring for being a several thousand year old tree that usually devours people for sustenance. I loved how he listened to every word that Emily "Milly" spoke as if she is all he wants to hear. He really was so much better than Milly's fiance/husband.

The things that Milly's new husband and his family tried to make her do is just downright depraved and atrocious. I'm not one to kink shame or anything. But when you try to force it on someone that's just a whole other level. And the fact that it wasn't the husband(Eric) that Milly was supposed to do it for but his sick(in every sense of the word) grandfather, just made it even worse. I don't care if it's the only cure for their genetic condition. You just don't do that. Just why did they think she'd be so open-minded to allow that to happen.

And don't get me started on the rest of the family. I definitely agree with Ash, they're all a bunch of parasites that care about no one else but their own family and values, and I'm glad they all met their due end.

As for Eric I'm not sure I liked the punishment/revenge that he received from Ash and Milly. Don't get me wrong it was totally deserved, but I just think it was weirdly bizarre for something I've read about in other books. I've read plenty of mpreg books, but nothing quite like this. And I'm not entirely sure how to feel about it. I'm happy that Ash and Milly got a couple kids from it though. They definitely deserve it after the rough lives they both lived.

So overall it was really hot while it was focused on just Ash and Milly. Everything else that wasn't the hot and spicy/sweet and caring scenes between Ash and Milly, were just incredibly bizarre but somehow very entertaining. I'm not sure who I'd recommend this to, it definitely isn't for everyone. But I would recommend it if I ever came across someone who I felt would enjoy it.

4.5/5 ⭐
5/5 🌶️

**Tropes**
- Ancient old being and 'ordinary' human
-Coerced marriage and revenge

📖 **My Thoughts**
This was totally fucked up but I liked it. I really liked the style of the author, it was so well written in terms of build I didn't even realise how weird some aspects were until I retold the plot to by boyfriend. This is dark and bonkers so be forewarned before you read. It also had one of the most realistic builds I think for such a dark novel.

⚠️ **Triggers**
-Cult
-Sexual Assault
-Physical harm
-Periods
-Threat of death
-Forced restraint
-Body fluids
-Dub con penetration
-MPreg
-Incesty/very odd culty family

<:0_flag_progress_pride:1077471157575491594> **Representation**
N/A

🌶️ **Spice**
All the spice. If you can imagine it with one (shape shifting) partner, it probably happened. Wasn't all my cup of tea but was definitely a massive part of the story

📝 **Special Notes**
Was cool to read a book set in Sweden. Liked the little nods to Nordic Gods

What the fuck did I read and why was I so invested in it? I read this in one day, mostly because I was dying to know what else could go on in this crazy novel. I saw the trigger warnings and I still was surprised by some stuff.

That last chapter and epilogue though was FUCKED UP. I've read some crazy shit but my god.

Is it crazy I kind of enjoyed reading this?

It is the kind of crazy story you would never think got published, but would instead find it on some weird website or reading app.
But not only is it crazy, the crazier thing is, it is surprisingly well written. My hat off to Siggy Shade, as they seem to know what they're on about.
