Kit Larson und Shawn Scarlett sind zwei Menschen die eine gemeinsame Vergangenheit haben. Ihr Herz verlor Kit an Shawn als sie ihn zum ersten mal Gitarre spielen sieht. Auf einer High School Party haben die zwei eine Schöne Nacht doch mehr wird daraus nicht. Das merkt Kit nach dieser Party. Doch trotz dieses Ereignisses ist weiterhin von Leidenschaft zur Musik gefesselt und nach dem Kit Jahre Später von einem Casting von Shwans mittlerweile bekannter Band für einen neuen Gitarristen hört, ist ihr klar, dass sie sich das Vorspielen nicht entgehen lassen kann. Nicht lange nach dem Casting wird ihr zu gesagt und sie ist im siebten Himmel. Aber der Platz in the Last ones to now bedeutet auch, dass Shawn und Kit und Shwan jeden Tag sehen und er geht ihr nicht mehr aus dem Kopf kriegt.
Meinung
Wem Band 1 und Zwei dieser Reihe schon gefallen hat, der wird diesen dritten Band lieben. Hier kommt neben der sich über die Seiten hinweg entwickelnden Beziehung zwischen unseren Zwei Protagonisten auch noch die Tatsache hinzu, das alte Gefühle von Kit wieder aufflammen. In meinen Augen hat die Autorin es gemeistert diese Ganze Situation nicht zu kitschig da zu stellen. Ich finde das kann einem Autor bei diesem Konzept von Geschichte manchmal passieren.Doch gerade durch die Wahl der Protagonisten gelang es der Autorin genau das nicht zu tun.
Jamie Shaw hat mich mit ihrem Schreibstil wieder gefesselt. Innerhalb von zwei Tagen hab ich dieses Buch ausgelesen und mich echt zum schlafen zwingen. Diese 484 Seiten sind nur so dahin geflogen. Ein großer Pluspunkt für dieses Buch ist der Humor. Ich musste beim Lesen immer mal wieder leise los lachen. Was mir hier sehr Zugesagt hat war Kits Familie hach die waren einfach so unterhaltsam.
Auch der Spannungsbogen der Geschichte war ebenfalls sehr gut aufgebaut. Neben dem tollen Schreibstil auch ein Grund der mir das Weglegen des Romans erschwert hat. Ich habe mich beim Lesen immer gefragt was als nächstes geschieht.
Interessant war auch, das wir dieses Mal auch das wir eine Protagonistin hatten die aktiv in der Band mitwirkt. Denn in den vorherigen Bänden der Reihe hatten wir ja zwei Mädels, die eine andere Art von Verbindung zur Band hatten. Dadurch hat man einen tollen Einblick in die Abläufe in der Band bekommen.
Direkt auf den ersten paar Seiten war mir Kit sympathisch. Es war sehr schön mal wieder von einer Protagonistin zu lesen die sich nicht unterkriegen lässt, denn das kommt in den New Adult ja eher nicht so oft vor. Kits Handlungen, Gedanken Gefühle konnte ich sehr gut nachvollziehen. Ich habe Kit die Rock Gör abgekauft es wirkte nicht aufgesetzt oder so. Ich fand es toll das sie gerade vor ihrer Familie so für das was sie einstehen konnte. Auch wie sie sich mit ihren 4 älteren Brüdern auseinander setzt. An einigen Stellen fand ich zwar das die ein Bisschen übertrieben haben aber ist nicht so mit Großen Brüdern? Es war ja lustig nur hin und wieder habe ich mich gefragt ob den Jungs oder Männern entgangen ist das ihre Schwester schon erwachsen ist.
Kommen wir nun zu unserem männlichem Helden Shawn. Ich finde man konnte merken, das er sich im Laufe des Buches oder eher gesagt während dieser sechs Jahre sehr reflektiert hat und ein Stück weiter entwickelt hat. Der junge Mann hat eine tolle Einstellung zum Thema Musik und auch Marketing seiner Band. Mir hat es jedoch nich so gut gefallen, das er Kit eine ganz bestimmte Sache verschwiegen hat. Jedoch konnte ich seine Gründe dafür sehr gut verstehen kann. Was ich nicht so gut verstehen konnte war das er die Beziehung zwischen ihm und Kit geheim halten wollte.
Fazit
Abschließend muss ich sagen mit diesem Buch hatte ich ein paar schöne und lustige Lesestunden. Ich wollte dieses Buch sogar garnicht mehr aus der Hand doch leider musste ich ja ein bisschen schlafen. Da mir vieles gefallen und vor allem die Nebencharaktere und wie sie in der Geschichte eingebunden waren, bekommt dieses Buch fünf von fünf Pferden

Relationships - good; romance - good; emotional resonance - good; misogyny - annoying. Calling people girls as an insult, being the kind of girl who counts herself as one of the guys to lift her above and make her "different" than the other girls, shaming all kinds of girls for their sexuality and appearance, really hated that part. I don't think I could read another book by this author unless I knew that she'd stopped using casual misogyny.

I've been waiting to read this book from the moment I started this series. Tbh, the characters didn't disappoint me except for the drama. I didn't feel much about it. Too much lies and hiding especially from Kit and Shawn. Maybe the executions of the scenes didn't work well for me. It could have been better. I don't want to list down every scenario that feels like lacking and exaggerated coz I wanted this to be spoiler free. But I really appreciate every characters from Shawn and Kit, their bandmates and their friends and even Kit's family, they made this book almost worth a 4 stars rating.
I did enjoy reading this book.

Really amusing and easy read.
In this novel, Kit and Shawn's history is finally revealed. It was teased in the previous novel that they had some sort of a past together, but that things in the present day are rocky and filled with sexual tension. Kit, who is the youngest sibling of four other brothers. She's thusly a bit of a tomboy and is fairly tough. She's had to learn to speak her mind or else be drowned out in her household. However, she hasn't gotten many chances to be too girly since her brothers are determined to protect her from any guys that might stumble into her path. However, one of her brothers is her twin, and they are a lot closer, and thusly he knows more of her secrets. Kale knows that Kit saw Shawn and Adam play an acoustic set at a talent show years ago and it inspired both her fantasy of becoming a rock star guitar player and also her massive crush on Shawn. However, Adam and Shawn are a few years older and Kit takes her last opportunity to be with Shawn: at his graduation party. She strikes up a conversation and he ends up taking her virginity and never calling again. Kit doesn't see him until six years later when she auditions to be the rhythm guitarist for his band The Last Ones to Know. He acts a little odd and almost rude at her audition and at the first rehearsal after the rest of the band decides she's perfect for the job. Shawn finally gives up whatever his problem is and they start to become friends, but with underlying sexual tension, that neither one is broaching. It's a bit of a roller coaster as Kit finds her place in the band and as they grow in fame during their month long tour. Kit is determined to hate Shawn for his lack of communication after their first time. She just can't get over the hurt she felt, but she also can't move past the feelings she's had for Shawn since she was young. Between all of their angst, all the humor amongst the band and other friends, and Kit's secrets from her family about her new life, the book has a lot of conflicts.
I really enjoyed all the characters and their dynamics together. I'm a big fan of quick wit and humor in dialogue and this book was good at delivering. Leti, Kit's so-called "third best friend", is hilarious and perfect in his role as a comic relief but also as the guy that will give it to Kit straight when she needs a kick in the butt.
For all the conflicts the book had, I can't say any of them were especially original or unpredictable. However, they were well done for what they were. Each conflict had solid buildup and reasoning. Most of the drama was a bit trite and largely brought on by Kit herself, so it was all fairly see-through as far as a plot goes. But it should say something that despite the transparent plot, it was still really amusing and entertaining. I wanted to keep reading throughout the whole story.
Just as a small aside, I kept wondering if I missed the reasons for why all of Kit's brothers were still living at home. I think it worked great for the story and made things more entertaining. However, it seemed really weird and illogical.
The only other thing that really bothered me in this book was at the ending. When all the conflicts finally peak, Kit and Shawn are both revealed to be in the wrong, but Kit doesn't see her wrong doing at first. She's basically the hypocrite after all the anger she spewed at Shawn, yet when she goes to make up with him, she doesn't utter a single apology but demands multiple explanations from him. It's a bit unbalanced and I felt bad for Shawn and how all the blame wound up on his shoulders.
I'm excited for the next book in the series. I think Mike's story has great potential. He's always been the guy in the band that is holding out for his wife one day and isn't messing around with groupies in the meantime. Just in case I need a refresher between the next publishing, I'm going to hide of more complete synopsis in a spoiler link.

The crux of the story was when Shawn and Kit finally got together with only a few days left in their tour. Shawn asks her out but wants to keep it quiet while they're on their tour for the last couple of days so they can avoid the teasing the other guys will give them. However, just after they return from their night of figuring out their relationship, Mike (unknowingly) reveals that Shawn remembers their night together at the graduation party, when Kit had rationalized that he must not remember. All of her insecurities kick in and she afraid she is going to be Shawn's dirty little secret. She starts avoiding him so she can get through their last performance. Then all of her brothers show up at the venue and her secret of being in the band from their high school is revealed and her family now knows she's been on tour. Then things are compounded at the band and her brothers get along great and the band comes to their house for dinner. That's when Kit finally explodes. She has a bit of a breakdown and Kale tries to rescue her from her turmoil by shielding some of the spotlight when he finally comes out of the closet. He also reveals that he was the reason Shawn didn't call. It's a long night to say the least. It leads Kit to realize she needs to forgive Kale for protecting her, and she needs to realize that Shawn only acted as Kit acted, by lying about the past and starting anew as if nothing happened.hellxriver's review against another edition

OhMyShawn, that was a fun ride! As with the other two books in this series, it can be read as a stand alone, but it's a lot more fun to read them in order. PLUS, you get to hang out with characters from the previous books. I'm winking at you, Joel.
