Juliet Marillier can tell stories and she draws you as reader in with these wild and untamed lands that exist between the human settlements that are inhabited with more than trees, animals and creepy crawlies.
This second book sees Blackthorn and Grim setting out to solve another mystery that comes their way. And as they figure out the answers of the wailing tower they come to understand some more about themselves and who they are in relation to each other.

Spoiler
Both Blackthorn and Grim emerge from a situation of immense traumatisation and grief into the story line of this series, and this background is present in all three books, as the author follows them on their way beyond the immediate situation and where the work on healing what has been so broken starts.aseel_reads's review against another edition

this was a fun fantasy, quite slow and predictable. I enjoyed learning more about grim and I'm interested to see where his and Blackthorn's story goes next. wish there was more of a plot in this one

I love this series so much I honestly can't handle it. Will be picking up Den of Wolves as soon as I can!! Possible more coherent review to come, but, honestly, I don't know what else to say, I just love Blackthorn and Grim so much 😭

I liked this book a lot, and I definitely think it was a good read. However, I think I liked the first book better. I am really eager to see what the next book is all about.
