A funny, sad, and moving story about a profoundly damaged person. A look at a group of awful people that is both incredible empathetic and super vicious. Deeply human and laugh out loud funny with a pitch black wit. Listened to the audiobook in 3 days and just couldn’t pull myself away. 

Also shout out to Julia Whelan’s really amazing performance reading the audiobook.

“She was too afraid of her own rage to ever imagine it through to any violent end.”

This book was NOT for me. I really tried to like it. It has some great “hot sad girl” quotes, but other than that, it fell super flat for me. The plot was virtually nonexistent, I didn’t feel like the main character was changed by any of the events in the story until MAYBE the last page, I just wanted it to have more… something. Meaning? Depth? Conflict? Even the ending felt disingenuous, like a Hail Mary after a whole lot of nothing. 

The writing is great, the voice is strong, I just found the overall arc lacking. If you like & connect with this story I LOVE that for you, it was just a miss for me personally.

This book was horrible. The end epiphany that I expected didn't happen. The main character was still unlikeable. It was predictable and dumb.
