I really loved this book, it was funny, intriguing, and ultimately it was great to see Bruther grow and learn more about the world and himself. In the beginning it is quite hard to keep up with all the names and world building, but it definitely pays off and after a while I was hooked.

One of my favorite Discworld books, which is notable since it is so far removed from many of my favorite familiar Discworld settings and characters. The pairing of Om as a mostly impotent tortoise and Brother as a guileless, earnest novice might be one of my favorite buddy duos in literature. While these books are often surprisingly deep amidst all their humor, this one in particular had several thoughtful passages on religion, ethics, and belief.
