This was an unexpected book that I wasn't expecting at and went in a fantasy romance direction and  was pleasantly surprised at the outcome even though I was confused halfway, because I felt like it was just thrust upon me as the reader and I clearly had to suspend my belief.

Nice quick spicy novella to read as a cleanser in between a heavy book or just in general. Wasn't a lot of story to this one, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless!

CW: mention of attempted suicide

—I think the worldbuilding was interesting
—Sam and Temple were both pretty flat for me, unfortunately.
—The sex scenes were also not quite as interesting to me as in House's previous books.
—The narrators, J. Shani Michaels and Winston James, were good.

This sucked.

The writing sucked cheese. The characters made no damn sense. Sex scenes were god awful. Cringey, corny and it made me wince because WOW I didn't know you could shudder in actual horror.

The only thing I liked in this book was when the hero called her Love. Damn me because I'm a sucker for that.
